Interested in care? Want to gain some recognised care qualifications? Already working in a care, school or similar setting and want to further develop your skills? Taking care of a relative or friend and need some training?

If you are aged 19+ our fully funded short care courses will give you an understanding and insight into a range of care disciplines, with the opportunity to achieve an NCFE accredited Level 2 certificate upon completion.

Courses are available in dementia, learning disabilities, autism, mental health, end of life care, nutrition and health, falls prevention, diabetes, dignity and safeguarding, care planning, common health conditions, challenging behaviour, safe handling of medication and infection control. Regular drop in sessions, email and telephone support from a care tutor will help you complete the course, and all learning materials are provided. Each course takes between 8 – 12 weeks to complete, depending upon how many hours you can give each week, but provides flexible learning to fit in with your work, family and other commitments

Drop in sessions will run every two weeks on a Thursday between 9am and 4pm at our Barnsley Training Centre on Park Road starting on the 10th January 2019. To register, call in to one of the drop in sessions – you’ll meet the tutor who will talk you through your chosen course, get you started and will then be available to support you going forward.

To qualify for funding of these courses, you must be aged 19+ and already hold a Level 2 certificate in any discipline; all you need then is the motivation, commitment and willingness to learn.
